Barbee Monk, Soprano
Soprano Barbee Monk has been praised by critics for her “ravishing tones” (Miami Herald), “moments of singular beauty” (El nuevo Herald) and “attractive vocalism” (South Florida Classical Review). She has recently been seen in Die Zauberflöte (Pamina) with Opera Theatre of Montclair, Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna) with The Opera Atelier, La Calisto (Diana) with the Baroque Opera Workshop at Queens College, Suor Angelica (Prima conversa) with Miami Lyric Opera, The Vanishing Bridegroom (Bride/Wife/Mother) with Barnard Opera, and the world premier of Mason’s Entanglements (Acting Coach) at Miami’s Lowe Art Museum.
Ms. Monk’s sacred and concert appearances include Bach’s Cantata 89 and Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Music at Atonement series in Tenafly, NJ; Messiah with the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami; and Exsultate, jubilate on the Music at St. Mark’s series in Jacksonville, FL. Her upcoming engagements include Frasquita in Carmen with New Rochelle Opera and several performances on the Music at Atonement series during the 2015-2016 season.
Ms. Monk is an alumna of the University of Miami (MM) and University of North Florida (BM).
