Hyewon Kate Lim, Piano
Dr. Hyewoon Lim is originally from South Korea and started the piano when she was three. Her main accomplishment began when she moved to New Jersey to pursue her Doctor of Musical Art in Piano Performance at Rutgers, the State University of NJ in 2009.
In 2010, she performed in Vienna with Vienna Int’l Orchestra as a soloist. She also won concerto competitions of South Orange Symphony Orchestra and Rutgers Symphony Orchestra, in 2010 and 2012 respectively. Her Carnegie Hall debut was made in May, 2012. In the same year, she was invited as a pianist at Castleton Summer Festival, under the direction of Maestro Maazel.
At her commencement in May, 2013, Dr. Lim received Irene Alm Memorial Award which states her excellence in performance and scholarly research. For last 4 and a half years, she was an active member of the piano faculty with 20 students at the Extension Division, MGSA at Rutgers University.
Dr. Lim’s education includes graduating from SookMyung Women’s University in Seoul, Korea, as well as completing her Masters Degree at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor under Prof. Christopher Harding, and the DMA at Rutgers University under Dr. Min Kwon in 2012.
