Rocky Sellers, Bass-Baritone
Bass-Baritone Rocky Sellers has been described by the New York Observer as a "vibrant, booming bass". For the 2015-16 season, Mr. Sellers looks forward to a return to Portland Opera to sing the role of Dulcamara in the Elixir of Love with the company's Educational Outreach Department, Portland Opera To Go! During the 2014-15 season, Mr. Sellers made his house debut with Portland Opera covering the role of Joe in Show Boat, presented an aria concert with the Kennett Symphony as well as joined the roster of the American Spiritual Ensemble.
In the 2013-14 season, Mr. Sellers sang performances as Dr. Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro with Manhattan Opera Studio, Banquo in MacBeth with Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble, Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Delaware Valley Opera Company, Sparafucile in Rigoletto with Regina Opera singing and was recently in residence with Opera Naples singing Wolfgang Big Bad in Three Little Pigs and covering Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. He has sung Sarastro and Die Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte and Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni with Manhattan Opera Studio and New York Lyric Opera. With Santa Fe Opera he covered Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro and Detective Kearly in the World Premiere of Theodore Morrison’s Oscar, sang Mícha in The Bartered Bride and Pistola in Falstaff for the Apprentice Artists Scenes Concert.
Mr. Sellers has also been seen with Sarasota Opera , Opera Saragota, Natchez Festival of Music and the Seoul International Opera Festival. Mr. Sellers has received awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Kennett Symphony Voice Competition, Dell'Arte Opera, Opera Birmingham Voice Competition, and the American Prize Competition in Vocal Performance. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
